PE Abstract and Surreal: *KizukiTamuraInterview with *KizukiTamura
How would you explain the concept of abstraction/surrealism to someone who has never heard of it before?
Surrealism refers to certain definite codes rooted in psychoanalysis, philosophy etc. and favours associative, non-logical processes like in dreams or automatic writing. Whereas abstraction is rather a personal vision of reality at a given time. In photography, abstraction often leads to a poetic approach, but also gives the opportunity of experimenting.

What inspires you to use the concept of abstraction/surrealism for your artwork?
As a matter of fact, I work rather with abstraction than with surrealism. In my eyes, surrealism is nowadays a bit outdated, but I am still very fond of Breton, Magritte and others, who transformed the artistic standards of their time.

Kaleidoscope - The toy for the imaginationKaleidoscope, the avant-garde creation can’t pass by us unnoticed. It’s not about a formal trick of stitching some pictures together, nor a cheap and cheerful toy from our childhood.

> Please introduce yourself, in your own words. What are your interests?
My name is Cyril Berthault-Jacquier. I'm French, and I have lived in Brussels for the last ten years. I have frequented deviantART for more than ten years, but I have had multiple accounts in that time. I'm passionate about art in general; in photography, painting, and so on. I'm also a compulsive reader, with a particular taste for contemporary Japanese literature. That's why I chose "KizukiTamura" as a pseudonym here: Kizuki Tamura is a character from a book by Haruki Murakami.
